Overview

Established in 1903 Fane Valley Co-operative Society Ltd. is now a major force in the Irish Agri-Food Industry with a turnover in excess of £270m and employing over 1,300 people throughout the island of Ireland.

In 2011 they were ranked 26 in the Belfast Telegraph Top 100 with a profit of £2.6m.

The Co-op is owned by approximately 2,000 local farmer shareholders.

Fane Valley Co-operative Society Ltd. was established in 1903 by a group of farmers who wished to improve the marketing of their butter which at that time was produced on the farm. The group came together and built the original Fane Valley dairy which was located on the banks of the Fane Valley river bordering counties Armagh and Monaghan.

Fane Valley does contribute widely with small amounts to local charities. In addition specific amounts are sometimes donated annually to charities eg. Action MS and the Newry Hospice. They are however unable to assist in supporting all the requests currently received.
