Overview

Projects must be located within the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland and must fall under either or both the following areas:

The staff voted to select two areas of social need from the many worthy causes in Irish society. They chose:

  • Suicide
  • Homelessness

These same areas were selected again in 2008 as our focus for another 3 years.

ESB ElectricAID Ireland deepens our traditional approach to funding good causes by seeking to make a focused impact on these two areas.

The initiative provides total funding of €1 million per year to a range of groups including:

  • National organisations
  • Research bodies
  • Regional charities
  • Local community and parish-based initiatives

The following groups will be supported:

  • Registered charities
  • Not for profit organisations
  • Community & voluntary groups

The application must have the full support of your organisation and any other support or partnership organisations involved.

Grants will be allocated on a quarterly basis. While it is expected that most grants will be of the order of €10,000, some larger grants will also be available.

They estimate most grants to be in the order of €10,000. From time to time they will approve grants of up to €40,000. 2 grants of up to €100,000 will be considered each year.

Successful applicants will be required to submit progress and completion reports as appropriate, supported by receipts and other relevant documentation. Projects will be subject to monitoring during the course of implementation.

In some cases further information may be requested and applicants may be required to meet a representative of ESB Electric Aid Ireland to discuss details of the project.

Funding must be used exclusively for the purpose of implementing the project as stated in the application form. Confirmation may be required from the organisation’s auditors that funds have been used for the purpose for which they were granted.
