Overview

Douwe Egberts' UK branch, which is based in Slough, Berkshire launched the competition in February 2011 with a first prize is £10,000, the second is £5000 and the third is £3000.

The competition is open to REGISTERED CHARITIES in the UK with an income between £5,000 and £50,000 per annum. They are looking for 'Local Stars' charities - which work closely with their local communities and their final shortlist will be judged on this basis.

Re-fill, Re-Use, Re-Cycle Theme

The theme is Re-fill, Re-use, Re-cycle and every project submitted to the competition should fit into one of the three pre-defined categories:

  • A ‘Re-use’ project is defined by one which is low on funding.
  • A ‘Re-fill’ project is defined by one which is falling into disrepair and need restoration.
  • A ‘Re-cycle’ project is defined by one which is aiming to transform something unusable into something useful.

The competition is run only via a designated Facebook page. The address is www.facebook.com/douweegbertsuk. Those of you without a Facebook account will need to register first.

Once you are logged in you will need to click on the ‘like’ link, which will take you to the competition entry form. From there on in you will receive an application pack containing a campaign support kit, press release, posteres etc so as to raise your profile and get more support

Each entry must include a designated administrator to manage their Facebook application profile and be the point of contact should there be any enquires from The Promoter as well as being the point of contact should they be shortlisted or should they win the prize.

Each month they are also giving away year's supply of coffee to one lucky 'Local Star'. All you need to do is vote for a charity and you'll be entered into the monthly draw.

  1. Only one vote per person is allowed per charity. Multiple voting in respect of each individual charity will not be accepted.
  2. Voting will take place from 21st Feb 2011 until the 28th April 2011. Voting closes on 1st May.
  3. To vote, go to www.facebook.com/douweegbertsuk, search for the Charity of your choice or in your local region and click to submit your vote.
