Overview

The Domestic and Sexual Abuse Strategy Small Grant Scheme provides an opportunity for those member organisations that are represented on the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Expert Reference Group and / or that are represented on the five local Domestic and Sexual Violence and Abuse Partnerships to apply for funding to support innovative projects that align with our strategic objectives. This funding aims to empower frontline organisations and sustain their essential work in addressing domestic and sexual abuse within our communities. Through this initiative, we aim to support projects that create meaningful change and deliver lasting impact for those affected by abuse.

Who can apply

  • Member organisations that are represented on the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Expert Reference Group and / or that are represented on the five local Domestic and Sexual Violence and Abuse Partnerships with a management board or appropriate governance structure
  • Registered charities

Funding size

For projects within the 2024/25 financial year, the maximum total funding available is £40k, per application.

Please be aware that it is unlikely that all applications will be successful. Some successful applications may receive partial funding only. Applicants should not therefore make any commitment, financial or otherwise, until the decision on funding by the Strategy Oversight Board has been determined and formal notification of award has been received.

What are they looking for

Applicants must be able to demonstrate:

  • how the project meets the essential criteria and,
  • that appropriate management, governance and financial policies and procedures are in place, including safeguarding policies where relevant, and that these policies etc. are regularly reviewed and complied with and provided to the Department on request;
  • the assessed need that funding from DSA Strategy SG Scheme is intended to address;
  • that there is no funding from another source covering the same proposal;
  • project objectives and outcomes and the added value/benefits that the project will deliver;
  • that the funding will be utilised and benefits/activities delivered within the delivery period of the Scheme in 2024/25.

Essential criteria

Applications must demonstrate how the project will help to tackle domestic and / or sexual abuse and how it will support delivery of priorities, objectives and/or outcomes under the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Strategy 2024-2031.

The 2024-2031 Strategy commits the use of funding to:

  • Pillar 1: PARTNERSHIP
    • Driving change together through joint commitment, leadership, and partnership working.
  • PILLAR 2: PREVENTION
    • Preventing domestic and/or sexual abuse from happening by challenging the attitudes and behaviours that foster it and intervening early where possible to prevent it.
  • PILLAR 3: CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE
    • Preventing domestic and/or sexual abuse from happening and ensuring children and young people, who are victims, are seen and heard; and can access services and receive support, helping them to recover and taking account of their particular needs.
  • PILLAR 4: SUPPORT AND PROVISION
    • Ensuring that all victims of domestic and/or sexual abuse can access tailored, responsive and specialised support and provision to recover and rebuild their lives.
  • PILLAR 5: JUSTICE
    • Ensuring justice responses are effective, supporting victims and holding individuals who are abusive to account, at the earliest opportunity.
