Overview

Craigavon Borough Council Leisure Services Department offers a Small Arts Grant Scheme for organisations in the Craigavon area undertaking arts projects.

The objectives of this scheme are:

  • To support creative initiatives
  • To promote accessibility and inclusiveness in arts practice
  • To target new audiences for the arts
  • To offer an opportunity for groups to lever matching funding from other sources

Grants will not normally exceed a limit of £500 but applications for larger scale projects will be considered and may be supported to a limit of £1000. The selection panel welcomes applications for grants too small to be considered by major funding bodies.

The grant scheme provides an opportunity for empowerment, for cultural diversity and for targeting social need.

Only not-for-profit organisations, events and projects are eligible for grant aid.

Groups applying for an award should meet the following criteria:

  • Recipients of grants should be based in the Borough of Craigavon
  • Groups must be constituted
  • Groups must be able to prove their financial stability
  • Grants will not be awarded retrospectively
  • Groups must state clearly the objectives of the work being planned
  • The outcomes of projects should be tangible and clearly stated
  • Grants will only be awarded to projects involving the arts and persons involved in administering the project must be able to demonstrate appropriate competencies
  • The project must be viable

Funding will be paid half up front and half on completion of a detailed mid-project update. Recipients are required to provide a report on their activity to the Council within an agreed time frame and are encouraged to record the project.
Recipients are required to give credit to Craigavon Borough Council in any publicity or other material produced in connection with the project/event.

The Arts Development Team can provide the following support for applicants:

  • Practical advice about the application process and on levering funding from major funding bodies for the arts.
  • Support for developing projects.
  • Advice and assistance in marketing, documenting and publicising projects or events.
  • Contacts for professional artists and companies to facilitate projects
