Overview
The Children’s Food Trust is delighted to be working with WRAP (The Waste and Resources Action Programme) to support their campaign of reducing food waste through training community organisations to run Cookery Classes across 10 of the UK biggest cities.
They are looking for ten community based organisations from Belfast who have the enthusiasm and capacity to deliver 10 adult or adult and child cooking sessions by March 2016. This fantastic project is completely FREE to take part in and organisations will receive:
- £250 funding to support the costs of setting up and running a new club
- Free hands on cookery skills training for two people from your organisation (this would cost £650 per person)
- A recipe pack full of tasty recipes and hints and tips on how to save money and reduce food waste
- A detailed training pack with everything you need to know to set up and run LFHW Cookery Classes in your city
- Tips & techniques to reduce food waste
- Ongoing access to support and resources
To be part of this unique opportunity to make a difference in your community, organisations should:
- Be based in Belfast
- Send up to two members of staff or volunteers to Club Leader Training - a two day practical training course at Mount Merrion Parish on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26th February 2015 - and a follow up event in September or October.
- Have the capacity to run two blocks of five cookery classes between March 2015 and March 2016. Cookery Classes should be aimed at adults from your local community but parent and child cookery classes are welcomed.
