Overview

The pharmaceutical and healthcare sector have come together to create a fund to help patient organisations continue their vital work. The Patient Organisations Recovery Fund aims to enable patient organisations in the UK to continue their vital work despite the pressures facing the sector as a result of the pandemic.

This new grant programme aims to:

  • Support the continuation of vital services provided by patient organisations in the UK to patients and carers
  • Enable patient organisations to take steps towards recovery so that patients’ voices can continue to be heard
  • Provide unrestricted grants as a contribution towards core costs for up to 3 months
  • Support a variety of patient organisations – by patient focus, activity type, size and geographic reach

Who can apply

Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they:

  • Are a patient organisation, focused on a particular disease or medical condition
  • Are registered charities or other registered charitable organisations (eg Community Interest Companies) in the UK
  • Have been operating and constituted for a minimum of 3 years
  • Have been financially adversely affected by the impact of Covid-19 (eg significantly reduced income and/or significantly increased need from patients for support)
  • Have a track record in the UK of advocating for patients’ interests or providing direct support to patients, their families or their carers
  • Have completed any due Impact Reporting for previous grants awarded from CAF

Organisations which directly support or advocate for patients with any disease or condition are eligible.

They can only accept one application per charitable organisation.

Please note: this is not a research fund, and organisations which primarily or solely undertake research work will not be prioritised for a grant. Organisations which include research as a supplementary or partial part of their work may apply.

Grants available

They will provide unrestricted grants as a contribution towards core costs for your organisation for up to 3 months.

You can apply for an unrestricted grant of between £5,000 and £20,000, up to a maximum of 25% of your budgeted core staff costs and overheads for 2021/22 financial year.

They want to support your immediate core costs to help your organisation build its recovery from the pandemic, so the funds should be spent by 31 October 2021.

They anticipate that they will not be able to support every eligible organisation which applies.
