CHANSE: Crisis – Perspectives from the Humanities ­

Overview

CHANSE in collaboration with the HERA (The Humanities in the European Research Area) and NORFACE (The New Opportunities for Research Funding Agency Cooperation in Europe) networks, pre-announce two Calls for international research projects in the following themes:

  • Crisis – Perspectives from the Humanities – organised jointly by CHANSE and HERA. For humanities research.

The call understands ‘crisis’ in the broadest possible terms. It aims to achieve new academic insights relevant to major social, cultural and political challenges facing Europe and the world. Proposals may explore any conception of crisis across time and any aspect of crisis throughout history such as epidemics, pandemics, political upheavals, religious conflicts, wars, migrations (in some instances) etc on both a macro and micro scale. The theme can be approached from all fields across the arts-based research and humanities.

Project teams must be composed of at least four and maximum of six Principal Investigators, ie partners eligible to receive funding from four or more different countries participating in the call.

Countries participating in the call:

Funding per project is a maximum of €1.5 million (across all partners). The maximum project period is 24-36 months.

 

  • Enhancing well-being for the future – organised jointly by CHANSE and NORFACE. For social science research.

The aim of this call is to stimulate research projects aiming to gain systematic knowledge on mechanisms underlying wellbeing as well as dynamic processes related to how wellbeing develops over time.

The call focuses on the following research themes:

  • Crises, challenges, and wellbeing.
  • Environmental challenges and wellbeing.
  • Wellbeing and mental health.
  • Wellbeing, economy, and politics.

The theme can be approached from a variety of perspectives and disciplines in the social sciences.

Project teams must be composed of at least four and maximum of six Principal Investigators, ie partners eligible to receive funding from four or more different countries participating in the call.

Countries participating in the call:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia*, Czechia*, Estonia, France*, Germany*, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.

Funding per project is a maximum of €1.5 million (across all partners). The maximum project period is 24-36 months.

Objectives of Fund

CHANSE will also strongly support knowledge exchange activities and foster relationships between academia and relevant stakeholders, as well as explore and develop new joint actions.

For the 2023 calls, funding per project is a maximum of €1.5 million (across all partners). The maximum project duration is two to three years.


 

Who Can Apply

Project teams must be composed of at least four Principal Investigators, (PIs) eligible to receive funding from the CHANSE funders from four or more different countries participating in a call.

Each partner must fulfil the conditions of the relevant national/regional Funding Organisation.
