Overview

Aim

CARDI is seeking top quality post-doctoral researchers for aFellowship programme designed to develop leaders in ageingresearch. We will fund up to two CARDI Fellows and up to two Beeson-sponsored CARDI Fellows.

Scope

CARDI Fellows will carry out research relating to healthy ageing inany discipline. Beeson-sponsored CARDI Fellows will carry outhealth/medical research on ageing. All Fellows will participate in trainingand development activities to develop their skills, knowledge andconfidence as ageing research leaders.

Benefits

CARDI will pay the full salaries of up to four Fellows for three years full-time and give allowances of up to €63,000/£50,000 for items such as research costs, consumables, attendance at conferences and work inother countries. In the case of clinical Fellows, CARDI will pay 80% ofsalaries for the equivalent of 4 days per week.In addition Fellows will have free places at CARDI training programmes,seminars and conferences to develop their ageing research leadershipskills. The host Higher Education Institution (HEI) will offer training in the specific research area proposed and appoint a mentor to the Fellow.

Eligibility

The programme is open to any EU citizen who has 2-7 years of post-doctoral research experience or part-time equivalent. Candidatesmust be nominated by an HEI in Ireland, north or south. Tenured staff are not eligible. Successful applicants will be required to begin their Fellowship by 1 August 2015 and to complete them in 2018.

CARDI is seeking top quality researchers who can demonstrate the potential to become outstanding leaders in ageing research. The selection criteria cover leadership potential, research proposal, career development plan, and HEI and mentor.

Requirements

Fellows will conduct high quality research, take part in training and development activities, and liaise with their mentors and other stakeholders.
