The Britford Bridge Trust
Overview
Primary charitable aims
The majority of grants or donations are awarded to advance the primary purposes of the Trust . These are:
- the prevention or relief of poverty;
- the advancement of education;
- the advancement of health or the saving of lives; and
- the advancement of the arts, culture, heritage, or science.
Secondary charitable aims
The secondary charitable purposes of the Trust are
- the advancement of citizenship or community development;
- the advancement of amateur sport;
- the advancement of environmental protection or improvement; and
- the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship, or other disadvantage.
The Trust will favour applications that have national reach and relevance and will not consider applications from overseas charities and causes, and medical research as the family has existing arrangements that cover these areas.
Applications are invited from UK registered organisations or groups with similar charitable purposes which operate on a national or international level. However, charities providing regional activities in Dorset and Cambridge will be considered.
Organisations who have been successful should wait for two years following receipt of the grant before re-applying.
The Trustees have typically made grants of between £10,000 to £50,000. Larger amounts may be available in exceptional circumstances.
Note: The Trustees will consider the amount requested in the context of the overall project and its aims and will consider the other sources of funding and the overall finances of the charity. In addition, applicants should be aware that decisions to award funding are also dependent upon the number and quality of similar competing applications.
