Overview

This regional grants scheme is part of the 'Linking Generations in Northern Ireland' initiative which follows on from the success of the Belfast and Ards Borough Council area intergenerational small grants schemes

The regional grants scheme will enable funding of £750 for 20 intergenerational projects across Northern Ireland.

Linking Generations builds on and extends previous and on-going intergenerational initiatives in Belfast and Newtownards, managed by the Beth Johnson Foundation and supported by The Atlantic Philanthropies, the Community Safety Unit of the Northern Ireland Office, Belfast City Council, Belfast Community Safety Partnership and Ards Community Safety Partnership.

The Beth Johnson Foundation welcomes the chance to work in partnership in Northern Ireland to support the development of this innovative programme of intergenerational community engagement to strengthen relationships across the generations.

This programme has the potential to help to inform and develop understanding and practice of intergenerational work across Europe as we move towards the European Year of Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity in 2012.
