Belfast Support for Sport Funding
Overview
There are four areas of support available from Support for Sport.
- Small Development and Equipment Grants
- Large Development Grants
- Hospitality
- Events
- Sporting Individual Grant
Small Development and Equipment Grants
To assist clubs in developing coaches and administrators. Small equipment grants for clubs established since 2001.
Clubs should prioritise which area of the seven available they require funding for.
- Training for Coaches This area will provide funding to clubs who wish to train coaches in any area which will benefit the club. This includes Sport specific coaching qualifications, first aid qualifications and generic sports and fitness qualifications.
- Club development training Funding is available to clubs for clubmark awards etc.
- Kick start grant For those clubs which are only starting up or alternatively starting a new section. Funding will be given to help with start up costs such as 12 weeks facility hire and coaching costs. Clubs who bid in for this area is also eligible for an equipment grant of up to £250.
- Try-it event Funding is available for clubs who wish to hold an event to promote their sport and attract more people to join their club. Running costs for such a project will be provided such as for facility hire (if it is being held outside their own club) refreshments, coaching costs etc.
- Sports festival / development event - Any club which is organising an event to provide competitive opportunities for junior or beginner members or raise the profile of their club will be awarded funding towards the project costs. Eligible costs include facility hire, (if it is being held outside their own club) trophies/certificates, refreshments/ hospitality, and officials costs.
- Equipment Grant Clubs which have been established within the last three years are eligible for a one off payment of £250 towards the purchase of new equipment.
Large Development Grants
Belfast City Council offer 12 annual grants, worth £5,000 each, to clubs who have active development plans and want to expand further through new initiatives. These large development grants are open to all Belfast-based sports clubs.
Hospitality
For visiting participants and officials at major sporting events in Belfast. Aims to celebrate excellence in achievement by Belfast competitors. You will be required to state whether you require Event Hospitality which allows hospitality for people attending events in Belfast or Celebration Hospitality which provides hospitality for teams/individuals from Belfast which have had an achievement in sport.
Events
Major sports events held in Belfast which attract high numbers of visiting spectators and participants. Please note that a total amount of £75,000 is available and will be allocated in April and September. For six of the areas (equipment grant not included) 75% of eligible project costs will be provided up to a maximum payment of £1000.
