Overview
The funding is for small-scale community events or activities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as part of the Council’s aim to promote and support the cultural diversity of the City, and should be seen as an inclusive occasion for those who wish to celebrate. The maximum award is £1,000 for each organisation in each financial year.
Eligibility Criteria
Projects must fulfil at least one of the following objectives of the Good Relations Fund, as listed below:
- Build awareness, dispel myths and stereotypes and address sectarianism/racism
- Promote and encourage trust and understanding through dialogue, learning about others and developing meaningful relationships
Assessment Criteria
1) Contributing to a better understanding of St. Patrick
- Facilitated lecture/discussion/seminar on contested issues related to St. Patrick, heritage and/or nationality, etc
- Researching and creating a cultural/art display or exhibition
- Facilitated workshops and research on St. Patrick for parade participation
- Work between communities living at an interface area
- Work between communities living at an interface area
- Activities which build cross-community or cross-cultural networks
- A project which will develop and sustain relationships between communities beyond the life of the project
2) Educational activities around St. Patrick’s Day
- Educational visit to Downpatrick, Armagh, or other St. Patrick significant location
- Cross community visit to actively participate in another St. Patrick’s parade
- Story-telling, drama, poetry, table quiz, or other primarily artistic/educational elements
3) Community Activities / displays around St. Patrick
- Educational displays, artwork and exhibitions
- Traditional music session/sing along
- Trip to observe a parade
- Dancing displays and children’s activities
4) Organisation, management and value for money
- The group must demonstrate their ability to manage the project and must demonstrate that this project represents value for money.
