Belfast City Council: Policing Committee Funding Grants
Overview
This funding specifically aims to obtain the cooperation of the public to work with the police to prevent crime and enhance community safety. We recognise that communities will have different levels of relationship with the police. Therefore this funding may be used to either improve an existing, or start/develop a new, relationship with the police.
The maximum amount available for each application is £1000 and this must be for revenue costs only. Projects and expenditure must have taken place within the financial year that the application is made. The maximum that any one organisation may be awarded in one calendar year is £1,000. Successful applications will be assessed on a first come, first served basis.
Each district will allocate funding from their indicative budget however the availability of this funding will be continually reviewed by the Policing Committee members.
Who can apply?
Community or voluntary organisations: the project must proactively involve the PSNI in its delivery and the application must be developed and/or endorsed and signed by an appropriate PSNI Officer, usually the Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector or Sergeant. If your organisation is a community or voluntary group, you must provide your constitution or governing document. All groups must provide a list of their current management committee or board of directors. Bank details must also be provided in the same name as the project promoter as well as the address of the bank branch, its sort code and your account number.
Statutory bodies: Where possible we would prefer that the initiative for these projects comes from community or voluntary groups within local areas. However, we recognise that this may not always be possible and as such we will consider applications from statutory organisations providing they demonstrate community involvement in the delivery and are for initiatives or work that is judged to be additional to their statutory duties and are non-profit making.
