BBC Theatre Fellowships
Overview
The BBC Performing Arts Fund will be making grants to the theatre sector in 2013. In 2011, we awarded grants to dance and in 2013 we concentrated on theatre. For the past three years, we run two schemes per year, one for community groups and one for talented individuals (Fellowships).
Vision
The Theatre Fellowships scheme aims to support individuals through the early stages of their theatre making careers; helping to establish themselves in the professional world through bespoke placements within existing theatre organisations.
Through this scheme we hope to identify the next generation of theatre talent, whether they are directors, writers, actors, producers or any other creative working in the theatre sector.
We want to increase the Fellows' skills through training and development opportunities tailored to the individual, to raise their aspirations, and to encourage collaboration.
Rather than awarding grants directly to individuals themselves, we are looking for applications from theatre companies, organisations, venues and festivals from across the UK to host a Fellow.
Fellows should be ambitious, willing to take on a challenge and looking for ways to increase their profile and take the next step in their careers.
Organisations should be willing to offer an amazing opportunity to the Fellow, tailored to the individual Fellow and giving them the benefit and support of all aspects of the organisation from mentoring, performance opportunities, and training to access to equipment, space and audiences.
The Fellowship will lead to an exciting new creative network in the theatre sector, supported, developed and ready to launch their professional careers.
Organisations can only apply for £10,000.
