Currently closed for applications Children (0-12) Young people (13-25) Great Britain Northern Ireland Medium (up to £60,000) Small (up to £10,000)

Overview

In Northern Ireland, the Pudsey Next Steps programme welcomes applications from organisations working with racially minoritised children and young people outside of the Belfast area.

This round aims to reach under-served and marginalised children and young people. They may be affected by challenges including poverty, discrimination, and exclusion.

For example, this could include care experienced or disabled children and young people. It may include children and young people from minoritised ethnic communities.

Definition of 'under-served'

Areas where their funding is not reaching marginalised children and young people. They identify these areas using internal and external data and research.

Definition of 'marginalised'

BBC Children in Need commits to fairness and making a positive difference for children and young people. It is their responsibility to embrace a diverse, equitable, and inclusive approach to everything they do. Children and young people are great at this and they need to be too.

They encourage you to contact them with any feedback about their grant-making. They want to be as accessible and supportive as possible for your organisation. This could mean translating their application into another language. They will also speak to you to help clarify any questions. If you need help to apply, please phone them on 0345 609 0015, or email pudseygrants@bbc.co.uk.

As they get further on this journey together they will develop to ensure they are an equitable, diverse, and inclusive grant-maker. They want their application process to work well for you. It’s new to them too, so they’ll be learning and improving as they go. Please let them know if you have any thoughts or suggestions for improving it.

They will support organisations which:

  • Address the specific local priorities identified for this round in their Nation or Region (see table on webpage)
  • Have not been funded by BBC Children in Need before
  • Have an annual income of £100,000 or less
  • Are based in the community they serve
  • Are reaching children and young people aged 0-18 years who are experiencing inequality of opportunity
