Barney Eastwood and family
Overview
Barney Eastwood founded Eastwood Bookmakers in 1954 from a shop in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim and over the years expanded it into Northern Ireland's biggest bookie. According to Wikipedia he was born in Cookstown in 1932. His business interests also include commercial property and supermarkets. He has owned the Russell Court in Belfast (and maybe still does).
The Eastwood family is expected have earned more than £100 million from the sale of the Eastwoods to Ladbrokes. Barney and his wife Frances's four sons have all been involved in the business. It is also understood that Mr Eastwood still owns many of the Bookmaking properties and leases them back to Ladbrokes.
Eastwood is also known to be an Arts and antique furniture collector. He is quoted by the Belfast Telegraph as giving generously "of his time and money to charity, and a wide choice of good causes, notably the Royal Victoria Hospital."
It is not presently known if and how Barney Eastwood and family choose causes to support.
How to Apply
Nothing is known of Barney Eastwood's philanthropy so it is assumed causes are supported (if at all) at his own discretion and done anonymously.
The eastwoods website is now rebranded as Ladbrokes. It is not known if there is still a relationship between the ladbrokes HQ address and the family.
