Overview

There are three different categories of Awards for Bridging Cultures with a cash prize up to £10,000:

  • Voluntary or community groups or organisations running projects or schemes to promote intercultural dialogue, with gross annual financial income of over £500,000 (in the last two financial years)
  • Voluntary or community groups or organisations running projects or schemes to promote intercultural dialogue, with gross annual financial income of under £500,000 (in the last two financial years)
  • Volunteers or founders who have made significant contribution to initiating or running projects or schemes to promote intercultural dialogue.
  • Local authorities, public sector organisations and private companies who can demonstrate their suppport for voluntary sector projects or schemes to promote intercultural dialogue, either by helping to initiate projects/schemes or by providing ongoing financial and/or other support

All categories are judged against these common criteria:

  • The type of interaction and the resulting impact on interculturality
  • The range of cultures/participants engaged in the scheme
  • The benefits to different communities
  • Costs of the scheme
  • Sustainability of the scheme
  • What potential does the scheme have as a role model for other organisations?

Benefits to applicants include:

  • An opportunity to showcase their work
  • Sharing good practice and opportunities for learning from other applicants
  • Short listed community and voluntary organisations will be supported to make a DVD of their scheme to support learning and sharing good practice
  • In addition winners will receive publicity for their scheme, financial rewards to invest in their projects and the opportunity to become leaders in their field
  • Potential coverage of the submission in the local media for all applicants
