Overview

Objectives of Fund

The funding is intended to support:

  • Initiatives of high artistic quality and with a strong audience focus.
  • A balance of tours in all artforms and arts practices.
  • A variety of styles, genres and types of production for a diverse range of audiences.
  • Tours of various scales.
  • An appropriate geographical spread of tours.

Applications should show that the maker or producer of the work and the presenter agree their respective roles with regard to artistic and marketing issues and to risk-sharing.

Dissemination refers to appropriate means of distributing and presenting work in art forms or practices which do not necessarily conform to the traditional touring model.

Who Can Apply

Applications are welcomed from organisations and individuals.

The following criteria apply:

  • Individuals must have been born, or be resident, in Ireland.
  • Applications which demonstrate collaboration or partnership between networks, consortia or other collective groupings of presenters are encouraged, particularly where these indicate a high degree of engagement with audiences and collaboration with the producing entity or artists.
  • Applicants in receipt of other Arts Council funding are eligible to apply, provided it is clear that the touring or dissemination activity for which funding is sought is additional to those activities for which Arts Council funding has already been offered.

Organisations in Northern Ireland are eligible providing the funded activity benefits audiences in the Republic of Ireland.

Arts areas can include:

  • Architecture.
  • Arts participation.
  • Circus.
  • Dance.
  • Film.
  • Literature.

The scheme guidelines list specific priorities for each art form.

Assessment Criteria

Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:

  • The artistic merit of the proposed activities.
  • Fit with objectives and priorities of the scheme.
  • Feasibility.

It is generally advised that productions prove successful before committing to a tour.

Eligible expenditure can include:

  • Direct costs of touring (minus planned income).
  • Direct costs of mounting or remounting a production, exhibition or show where these have not already been funded from another source.
