Ards Borough Council Good Relations
Overview
Ards Borough Council Grant Aid Scheme aims to support, encourage and facilitate activities which enhance and develop Community Relations within the Borough of Ards and which promote Good Relations between persons of different political opinion, racial group and religious belief.
A Project Grant will be awarded towards the costs of a project, event or activity, as part of an ongoing Good Relations programme. The amount awarded will depend on the level of Good Relations impact and be to a maximum of £2,000
A Cultural Heritage Seeding Grant up to a maximum of £100 will be awarded to newly constituted groups that seek to promote the rich historical culture and traditions of the Borough of Ards.
Many different types of groups are eligible to apply:

voluntary organisations

partnership/inter-agency groups
-
Church and other religious groups
-
organisations involved in Good/Community Relations work.
Groups seeking funding for a project, activity or event must fulfil the following conditions:

The group or community must be located within the Ards Borough Council area or demonstrate that their project will be located in or will target groups, communities or organisations within the Ards Borough
Applications by groups seeking funding will be considered as they fulfil at least one of the following criteria:
The application relates to a project that is part of a programme of reflection aimed at:

identifying cultural similarities between political, racial and religious groups

identifying differences between political, racial and religious groups with a view to promoting an increased understanding and acceptance of these differences

The application relates to a project that is part of a programme providing opportunities for people to explore the traditions and culture within their own political, racial or religious group, which increases their capacity to develop cross-community contact

The application relates to a project that is part of a programme of skills development, which enables people to understand and deal with issues of cultural differences, conflict and other related sensitive issues within cross community projects

The application relates to a project that is part of a programme that seeks to bring together people of different religious traditions, pursuing the opportunity to bridge divisions within a particular locality

The application relates to a project that is part of a programme that seeks to increase the awareness and the importance of culture in enriching community life and bringing about a deeper understanding and recognition of historical and cultural identity

The application relates to a project that is part of a programme that demonstrates a model of good practice in Good Relations within an ongoing strategy for sustainable Good Relations work
