Overview

Applications for the following may be considered, provided organisations are registered charities (or work through a registered charity):

  • development
  • health
  • disability
  • poverty
  • women's issues
  • family planning
  • human rights
  • social need

The trust tries to balance its funding between domestic and international causes, tending to support established causes. Very large organisations are unlikely to be successful.

Grants appear in the low thousands to around £35,000 although no indication of grant level is given by the trust directly.

During the year the Charity made total grant payments of £286,225 (2009 - £269,250) with an approximate balance of 72% (2009 - 74%) benefiting overseas work and 28% (2009 - 26%) benefiting work in the UK. A continuing substantial commitment to local Headway groups has been maintained. In undertaking its work the Charity has been dependent on the unpaid work of the Charity's Trustees.
